MARLO SHAW
Photographer and Wildlife Guide
I like photography as an art form and a way to document experiences; however, I make a conscious effort in the field to make sure my camera is not the focus of a moment. If I capture something great, it’s more of a bonus than a required outcome. Nothing is worse than experiencing something incredible and having that moment spoiled in your mind because the photos didn’t turn out the way you imagined. Don’t forget to put the camera down to really see and feel a place before anything else.
I work as a wildlife guide in destinations all over the world. Terrace is my home and I feel the most rooted in the rainforests of British Columbia’s coast. I feel immensely grateful to have the chance to explore some of the less visited spots on the coast through my work. This exhibit is meant to be an opportunity to share some of those places with people visiting this region. No photos will be able to truly illustrate the grandeur of this place we get to call home.
